BEST Cricket League – Week 2 Game Reports

Heather Hills 1 vs Whitehall 3

Heather Hills 1 decided to bowl first. Whitehall 3’s opening pair Paul Bifot and Jakari Wright started off strong with Jakari scoring 14 runs in the first over. Heather Hills’ captain, Chimwemwe Chinkuyu struck back immediately by bowling Jakari with his first delivery. Whitehall 3’s Jonathan Munson hit a six before being taken out by Heather Hill’s Marcus McNaughton. Whitehall’s Keyshawn Thomas made his presence felt upon arrival at the crease by hitting a six and a four. Tight bowling from Fred Crenshaw, Chimwemwe, Marcus, and Sharon Jacob then put a damper on Whitehall’s scoring rate. Johnathan Simon got the prized wicket of Keyshawn for 18 runs. Whitehall’s Ethan Stubbs added a valuable 6 runs to the teams total, which ended on 51. Masai Wray got 1 wicket. The fielding team made up of Erin (Wicket Keeper), Aidan, Ryan, and Mercy worked hard, coordinated well, and chased down every ball.

Heather Hills 1 had to chase 51 runs against Whitehall 3. Heather Hills 1 faced strong bowling performances from Whitehall 3’s Keyshawn, Jakari, Jasmine Kargbo, Paul, and Yuwnas Muhammad. Whitehall top order batsmen could only muster 8 runs in the first 5 overs. By the sixth over, with spirits a little down, Marcus and Alyssa started the fireworks. Marcus hit the first boundary, a much-needed 6 for the team. Marcus eventually scored an impressive 19 runs off only 5 balls and was bowled by Keyshawn. Chimwemwe and Fred batted next. Chimwemwe lit-up the scoreboard with 6 fours in his 26 runs and was retired. By the 8th over, Heather Hills 1 team had 51 runs, catching up with Whitehall 3. With 1 run needed to win, Fred smashed the ball for six to win the game!! Heathers Hills 1 went wild with excitement. The game ended with a convincing win of 57 runs for Heather Hills 1.

MVP for Heather Hills was Chimwemwe with 25 runs and 1 wicket.

MVP for Whitehall 3 was Keyshawn for his 18 runs and 1 wicket.
